New Providence Students Compete at NJ Science Olympiad
New Providence high and middle school students recently competed against 22 other schools in the New Jersey Regional Science Olympiad held at Union County College.
The Science Olympiad requires demonstration of skills through a variety of performance testing in which the students are required to demonstrate teamwork and collaborative learning throughout events that demand students make applications and connections to the real world.
Both teams entered a variety of events ranging from Food Science to Rocks and Minerals, scoring highly in most events.
NPMS students placed first in the Forestry competition and also placed in the top five in Disease Detective, Food Science, Helicopters and Experimental Design.
The NPHS students placed first in the Anatomy and Physiology competition and also did well in the Protein Modeling section.
Both teams will be advancing to the NJ State competition in March
