Salt Brook Students Do the D.A.P!CHARACTER EDUCATIONSalt Brook School introduced its 2010 Character Education Theme "Do the D.A.P." in October. This slogan, which stands for "Dignity and Pride" and is represented by a fist bump, helps focus our students on the school wide character education program that emphasizes respect for oneself and others, conflict resolution, and making a difference in thecommunity.Salt Brook celebrated the seventh year of this award-winning program by inviting former students now at the high school to return and reflect on their own Character Education program memories as well as how these lessons have helped shaped their own growth and development."DIGNITY AND PRIDE"Some of the ways in which Salt Brook students have been demonstrating their "Dignity and Pride" have been in giving back to the community. The PTA held a school wide "Pajama Day" in which students were encouraged to wear their pajamas to school and donate new pajamas to charity. In addition, a food drive was conducted prior to Thanksgiving to help provide some holiday cheer to those in need.In conjunction with the New Providence Police Department, Salt Brook students and staff collected a wide assortment of toys and gifts for the annual Toys for Tots drive. And finally, students in Mrs. Cohen"s 4th grade classroom dedicated their classroom holiday party to making blankets to be donated to a local pet shelter.
