Visual and Practical ArtsTwo high school students were accepted into the highly competitive Young Curator Program at Montclair Art Museum. The Young Curator program is an internship in which the students work at the museum, attend field trips and participate in workshops designed to develop their curatorial skills. Applicants submitted a portfolio of their work to be considered for this prestigious appointment. The internship, which includes weeknight and weekend hours, runs from December through June.
Four seventh graders placed in the annual Peace Poster contest, sponsored by the New Providence Lions Club. The happy first, second, and two third place winners were awarded savings bonds.
In November twenty-one high school students were inducted into the National Art Honor Society, an organization dedicated to fostering excellence and furthering creative abilities of art students. Advisor Mrs. Lynn Celler presided over the induction.
Representatives from the Art Institutes gave valuable career awareness presentations to our high school students. In September A.I. explored career opportunities in illustration, fine art, graphic and computer art. In December A.I. presented culinary arts opportunities. Mrs. Denise Moser and Mrs. Judy Hartpence hosted the Art Institutes.
