Instructional Technology directly supports students and teachers in fulfilling the curriculum goals of the New Providence School District. Resources are provided to increase student and teacher awareness of technological devices and available software applications that increase productivity and creativity. All students in the New Providence School district have access to the Internet with parent permission and after signing the district's "Internet Acceptable Use Agreement".
The primary components of instructional technology include instructional computer labs available at all schools, classroom computers, multimedia instructional tools, and a suite of software applications on all K-12 instructional computers. All K-6 schools have a computer curriculum that focuses on building technology skills as well as using technology to complete curriculum-based projects. Middle School offers students specialized classes in computer applications. Specialized high school computer labs have software appropriate for computer science, art, photography, broadcasting, and CAD. Students at the high school level continue to develop their page layout and graphic design skills by participating in the newspaper and yearbook classes. Teachers also integrate technology into their curriculum and are able to schedule work time in the schools' media centers, where students may use the Internet for gathering material related to their current studies or to use software applications to complete curriculum-related projects.
