  • New Providence School District has been named 2017 National District of Character

    ndoc We are proud to announce that New Providence School District is 1 of 4 districts in the nation to be named a National District of Character. The district earned the award for its dedicated focus on character education, fostering a positive impact on academic achievement, student behavior, school climate and the community.

    “On behalf of the New Providence Board of Education, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our students, staff, parents, and administration for this national recognition,” says Dr. David Miceli, Superintendent of Schools. “Their genuine commitment to the development and sustained implementation of our character education programs is recognized by this award.  It is a privilege and honor to be 1 of 4 districts in the nation to be recognized as a District of Character.”

    Schools and districts selected in January as State Schools of Character were forwarded to for consideration for national recognition as National Schools of Character.

Their dedication to character development has proven over time to increase the well-being of so many students, their families and their communities across the United States and beyond, " said Doug Karr,’s President & CEO. will honor the designated schools and districts at its 24th National Forum on Character Education to be held the weekend of October 20-21, 2017, in Arlington, VA.   • Kindergarten/First Grade Registration is now open for September 2017
    To be eligible for registration, a child must be five years old on or before October 1, 2017

    After completing the pre-registration process online you will be scheduled for an appt. at the Board of Education Office. The following documents must be presented at the time of your scheduled meeting:


    • Parent/Guardian Identification – Valid Driver’s license, passport or State ID
    • Original or Certified copy of Birth Documentation
    • Court Stamped Copy of Custody Documentation, if applicable
    • Medical Information – Immunization records and physical forms
    • Four (4) Proofs of Residency – i.e. Property deed, purchase agreement, utility bills, benefit statement, other  

    Please note:  Only a custodial parent/legal guardian can officially enroll a student.

    The District would like to share the fall activities in our four schools. The newsletter contains articles on character education, recent concerts, and student trips to the Salt Box Museum and NP Senior Citizen Center. Happy New Year!

    The New Providence School District is in the second year of the new STEM initiative. This edition of Our Schools will focus on the STEM professional development, new STEM courses, and related classroom activities that have been implemented in the four schools this fall.

  • In partnership with students, parents, and community, the mission of the New Providence School District is to educate all students to meet high academic standards and to prepare them to be responsible citizens in the dynamic global society of the 21st century.

    Offering a comprehensive Pre-K to Grade 12 educational program, the district serves a high school, middle school, and two elementary schools. Our programs of study are carefully aligned to the Core Curriculum Content Standards, with a strong emphasis on technology integration. Our co-curricular activities offer all students many opportunities to meet their needs and interests. Participation in a well-rounded curriculum is encouraged.
