Registration Process

The registration process is completed entirely online and is divided into two parts

  1. Pre-registration (Part One):
  • Parents/legal guardians should start by completing the pre-registration form above.  This form collects basic information about your child and household.
  • Once your pre-registration form is approved by the district registrar, you will receive an automated email from PowerSchool with instructions for completing the second part of the registration process.

2. PowerSchool Account Setup and Document Upload (Part Two):

  • The email will guide you through creating an account in PowerSchool, the district’s student information system. You will also need to upload required documentation. Follow the email instructions to create a username and password, then enter the unique Access ID and Access Password provided in the email.

Important: If you already have a child registered in the district, you don’t need to create a new PowerSchool account. Simply log in to your existing account, go to “Preferences,” and add your new incoming Kindergarten/First Grader using the unique Access ID and Password provided in the email.

Required Documentation for Registration:
To complete your child’s registration, you must upload the following documents:

  • Parent/Guardian identification (valid driver’s license, passport, or state ID).
  • Child’s birth certificate (original or certified copy).
  • Immunization records and Universal Child Health Record.
  • Four proofs of residency (e.g., property deed, utility bills, lease agreement, or benefit statement).
  • Court-stamped custody documentation (if applicable).
  • Request for Student Records Form (for children currently enrolled in private Kindergarten outside the district who will be registering for First Grade).

If Your Child is Currently Enrolled in NPSD Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten:

  • If your child will be attending Kindergarten or First Grade in the 2025-2026 school year, you do not need to re-register them online. You will receive a notification in August 2025 to update their information.
  • If your child will not be attending Kindergarten or First Grade in the New Providence School District, please notify your child’s current school as soon as possible.

Redistricting Notice:
This school year the New Providence School District initiated our redistricting process, which involved moving the elementary school boundary line from Livingston Avenue to South Street. The essential impact is that some incoming Kindergarten and First Grade students who would have typically attended Allen W. Roberts are now zoned for Salt Brook. This redistricting process is occurring in two phases over a four year period. The 2025-2026 school year will be year two of the first phase of the redistricting plan, with the Kindergarten and First Grade children of families living in zones A and D attending Salt Brook. Then, in September of 2026, phase two of the redistricting plan will begin, with the Kindergarten and First Grade children of families living in Zones B & C also attending Salt Brook.

For more details on the redistricting process, please refer to prior communications and presentations here.
