Sculpture I is a semester
long course during which students design and create three-dimensional works of
art through the safe use of various materials and tools. Students will receive studio instruction in the
following media: clay, plaster and wood. In addition, students will
study the life and work of master artists and major artistic styles and periods
in the history of art. Art criticism and aesthetics are integral to this
course. Field trips to major area museums will be offered. This course is
highly recommended for those students who intend to enroll later in the
Advanced Placement or Honors Art Program.
