    Rocks 1 Mr. Rosato
and Mr. Roberts, both from Fanwood Crushed Stone, recently visited the AWR classrooms as part of the fourth grade science unit on investigating Earth Materials. The guest presenters explained to the students the geological history of our State and about how New Jersey was originally formed by volcanoes.  They also explained to the students how the continents separated and how rocks were formed over many millions of years.

They also displayed samples of calcite, quartz, fool's gold, and other things collected from their quarry  and discussed how they had been formed and their potential uses.  Students also learned about how the basalt that they crush, is used for in the construction of driveways and highways. The students were very attentive during the presentations and learned a lot from these experts in their field.
