New Providence Welcomes New StaffNew Providence recently welcomed 18 new teachers, long term substitutes and resource staff to the school district. In August the new staff attended three days of new staff training at the Teaching for Understanding workshop before gathering with members of the Board of Education and administrators for an introductory luncheon provided by the Rotary Club. The staff also attended orientation sessions in their respective schools before school started. Good luck to all the new staff.NPHS Students Raise MoneyMembers of the New Providence High School Class of 2015 (The Sophomore Class) are pictured as they staff a table at the school's recent annual "Back-To-School Night" event. The students were selling school logo automobile magnets and blankets to help raise money to offset the costs associated with class activities. As you may well remember, at the end of last October Central and Northern New Jersey was hit with an incredible snow storm that devastated the area and leading to a massive disruption of the transport system and a number of extended school closings. The New Providence School District was not alone in incurring a number of extra and unpredicted costs due to the storm's impact. Fortunately the district was able to apply for a FEMA grant to cover the cost of the additional work required to reopen the school buildings and recently received a check for $12,401.70 from the Office of Emergency Management.
