Character Education
"The truth of your character is expressed through the choice of your actions"
At AWR, we focus on building strong character in individuals. We stress the importance of respect, responsibility, honesty, trustworthiness, independence, and resilience; just to name a few! Becoming a individual with good character is a strength that fosters life long success, socially, emotionally and academically. Character Education is an integral part of our lives at school, home and in the community. From teachers to other staff, we model kindness in our daily lives. We reinforce the importance of character through our daily interactions, classroom lessons, school-wide activities and teachable moments.
Every student at AWR is taught the 6 essential core lessons from the Bully Busting Curriculum by The New Jersey State Bar Foundation.
The lessons focus on:
- Building Relationships
- Learning the difference between Bullying and Normal Conflict
- Bystander versus Upstander
- Upstander Strategies
- Responsible Reporting
- School Climate
