Solar Sprints Competition
The MS and AWR Science Clubs recently participated in the Junior Solar Sprints competition at the New Providence High School track. Students from both clubs, covering grades five through eight had been working tirelessly for weeks designing and constructing their own cars that would run using the energy obtained form the sun via a solar panel. This year the middle school participants had the additional task of carrying a payload on their car.
The students used teamwork, problem solving skills, and knowledge about basic car mechanics in their design process. Students from both clubs impressed the judges and teachers from the other schools, with their good sportsmanship, cooperation, and teamwork at the races!
Congratulations to all the club members, especially the teams who won 1st Place in the speed competition, junior division and 2nd Place in the student choice competition, junior division!
