• NPHS Excels at the Youth and Government Conference

A team of New Providence High School students recently attended YMCA New Jersey Youth and Government Program in Trenton. The program, attended by over six hundred students from high schools across New Jersey is a hands-on debate and simulation program designed to help teens gain an understanding and appreciation of our State"s legislative process.

As part of the program each member of the team selects a personal issue of real. The student then researches and writes a Bill that is then presented and defended in Committee sessions and Senate and Assembly sessions held in the historic State House in Trenton. As part of the program students also have the opportunity to meet the various State Legislators and Department staff. Overall this intense program provide students with the opportunity to openly debate local and national topics that are of the utmost importance today and relevant to their world.

This year New Providence won the prestigious Premier Delegation award with three students also being selected for the Conference on National Affairs and one student being awarded the Outstanding Freshman Delegate. Congratulations to all on wonderful effort.
