• NPHS Performs Pirates of Penzance

The NPHS performing arts department provided beautiful music and many laughs during the recent performances of the classic Gilbert & Sullivan operetta, Pirates of Penzance. The show chronicles a pirate"s attempted but foiled transition to civilian life. A young pirate, Frederic, falls in love with the beautiful Mabel. The band of pirates plans to marry Mabel"s sisters, much to the dismay of their father, the very clever Major General. Also figuring into the plot is a nurse who is hard of hearing, a police sergeant with a very unique walk, and a group of timid policemen who attempt to capture the rambunctious pirates. With the assistance of many parent volunteers and under the direction of Ms. Susan Kirkland (vocal music), Ms. Leslie Ditta (choreography), Mr. Craig Duke (dramatic direction and stage design), Mr. John Russo (stage construction) and Mr. Michael Niedziejko (pit orchestra), the student cast and crew achieved a brilliant success!
