Celebrating Read Across America WeekDuring the week of February 28th, Salt Brook celebrated Read Across America Week with a wide array of activities designed to reaffirm our students" love of reading. Throughout the week, classes invited students, school officials and community members into their rooms to read to them and share their love of literacy. As always, the students loved having their guests demonstrate their Dignity and Pride by spending time with them. On March 1st, Salt Brook invited children"s book author Linda Oatman High to spend the day talking to our students about her writing process, the importance of using your imagination and creative thinking, and the necessity of editing and rewriting your work until it says exactly what you want it to say. Finally, the week ended with school wide D.E.A.R (Drop Everything and Read) time. Students and teachers lined the hallways and took a little time to enjoy the comfort of a good book. It was a great week for all.
