• NPHS Nominated for Blue Ribbon Schools Award
New Providence High School has been nominated, as one of 9 outstanding schools from New Jersey, for the 2011 Blue Ribbon Schools award.

The US Department of Education explains the Blue Ribbon Schools Program as honoring “public and private elementary, middle and high schools whose students achieve at very high levels” and “sets a high standard that represents a goal for all schools that strive for excellence”. In addition “recognition as a Blue Ribbon School has become a trademark of excellence, a symbol of quality recognized by everyone from parents to policymakers in thousands of communities”. Since 1982, this prestigious program has honored more than 6000 of America’s most successful schools

The program is part of a larger U. S. Department of Education effort to identify and disseminate knowledge about best school leadership and teaching practices. Blue Ribbon Schools serve as “models for other schools throughout the nation” and details of their achievements are shared on the U.S. Department of Education’s website.

New Providence High School is ranked among the state’s highest performing schools and has been nominated for the award based on the high performance of our students, regardless of backgrounds, on the state assessments.

The New Providence Middle School also received recognition as a Blue Ribbon School in November 2007.
