AWR Connects with Student in GhanaSixth-grade students recently took part in a videoconference, connecting with students in Ghana. Using the Polycom Videoconferencing Unit purchased by the AWR PTA, students performed a drum ensemble for Ghana students and Ghana students reciprocated. In addition, students had a Q & A session and realized although these students were on the other side of the world, they had many similarities.CHARACTER EDUCATION'In October AWR kicked off this year's character education theme, “What Are You Doing When No One Is Looking?”Team East BMX helped build excitement and share the message of making responsible choices, regardless of whether anyone is watching or not.HOLIDAY CARE FAIRBack by popular demand, the AWR Holiday Care Fair took place in December. The Care Fair corresponds to the school"s community outreach and character building programs. Throughout the day, all classes visited the gymnasium where students had an opportunity to make donations and receive “in lieu of” cards for loved ones. This year students donated over $4400 to different charities. In addition, this year, the Student Council had a table for a newly developed student-generated scholarship that will be presented to a deserving AWR graduate of the NPHS Class of 2011.
