    Video Design

    is an elective course designed to permit students to investigate and understand the

    basic components of the television production process as well as television's impact on society.

    The course focuses on understanding messages presented on television, use of production

    equipment, writing for television, and producing programs of various genres.

    PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS

    Attendance: A student enrolled in this course is expected to be present at least 90% of

    the days that class is in session.

    Achievement: A student must maintain a D-or better average for the four

    marking periods.

    OBJECTIVES

    Upon completion of the course, the student will:

    1 Gain "media literacy"  and be able to watch television and acquire infol1nation with greater

    appreciation and awareness of content and how that content is presented,

    2 Acquire an appreciation of television's place in today's society by becoming acquainted

    with its history and development.

    3. Acquire skills in television production techniques and equipment.

    4. Create television programs in several different genres and styles, taking projects from

    initial idea to finished product.

    5.  Learn to write and communicate clearly and effectively by developing scripts and

    storyboards for various productions.

    6. Learn the value of teamwork in creating effective television productions.
