    Week 3 (March 30 - April 3)

    Day 1-

-”Doubling rule” (1-1-1)  review:  When a 1 syllable word ends in 1 consonant after 1 vowel, you double the consonant before adding a vowel suffix (except for w, x, and y).

-Add -ing, -er, and -ed to each of the following words: hop, play, jog, jump

-Please visit https://classroommagazines.scholastic.com/support/learnathome/grades-1-2.html . Please pick an activity of your choice to explore.  The activities are organized by weeks & days - click on any day and have fun!

    Day 2-

Wow, I can’t believe we haven’t seen each other in a few weeks! Please write me a letter about how these last few weeks have been.  You can tell me ANYTHING but here are a few ideas: What have you done? Do you like “virtual learning?” Do you enjoy Zooming with your teachers? Here is the challenge. As you write, please be sure to include:

    -3 of your sight words

    -3 words with vowel teams

-2 word that DO follow the doubling rule

-2 words that DO NOT follow the doubling rule

-1 word that ends in -ge

-1 word that ends in -tch

    Day 3-

-Vowel Team Review! You have learned about vowel teams over these last few weeks (ie/y/igh, ee/ea).

-Please write 1 word that has each vowel team (5 words total)

-Use each word in a sentence

-Listen to any of my read alouds (click above).  Complete the "book review" at the top of this page.

    Day 4-

    -GAME DAY!

-Please play the “spelling power” game with a family member.  When you land on the space, you need to think of a word that follows that pattern and then spell that word correctly. You can write the word on a piece of paper or white board.  You can also tell someone how to spell it.

-If you'd rather play "Pig" or "The Sight Word Game" instead, that's fine!
