New Providence School District has been named 2017 National District of Character
We are proud to announce that New Providence School District is 1 of 4 districts in the nation to be named a National District of Character. The district earned the award for its dedicated focus on character education, fostering a positive impact on academic achievement, student behavior, school climate and the community.
“On behalf of the New Providence Board of Education, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our students, staff, parents, and administration for this national recognition,” says Dr. David Miceli, Superintendent of Schools. “Their genuine commitment to the development and sustained implementation of our character education programs is recognized by this award. It is a privilege and honor to be 1 of 4 districts in the nation to be recognized as a District of Character.”
Schools and districts selected in January as State Schools of Character were forwarded to Character.org for consideration for national recognition as National Schools of Character.
"At Character.org, we are extremely proud of this year’s National Schools of Character as well as our district recipients. Their dedication to character development has proven over time to increase the well-being of so many students, their families and their communities across the United States and beyond, " said Doug Karr, Character.org’s President & CEO.
Character.org will honor the designated schools and districts at its 24th National Forum on Character Education to be held the weekend of October 20-21, 2017, in Arlington, VA. Visit www.character.org to learn more about the National Forum, the Schools of Character program (State & National) and the 2017 national honorees.
